Play and leisure are essential for physical development, emotional as well as for intellectual, educational development and achieving. Through play children develop language skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory knowledge, social skills, intellectual development, problem solving and thinking skills. Moving into a new setting like changing schools, preschool to school, changing young groups or leaving care can be emotionally upsetting. Learning difficulties — A child with learning difficulties will need extra support in certain areas of development and may develop a low self-esteem because they get annoyed with themselves for not being able to do something, such as a simple numeracy problem, or read a book.
